For golfers around the world, Scotland holds a sacred place as the birthplace of the game. In July 2025, I had the extraordinary privilege of experiencing this legendary land firsthand—a journey that became one of the most defining and enriching chapters of my golfing life. From the moment I arrived, there was a distinct sense of history in the air. The landscapes, the ever-changing weather, and even the rhythm of play felt deeply connected to the origins of golf. This was not merely a tour; it was an immersion into the very soul of the sport.

During my visit, I had the opportunity to play three remarkable courses, each offering its own unique character, challenge, and lasting impression.

My journey began at Castle Park Golf Club, a beautiful links-style course that reflects the natural essence of Scottish golf. The course seemed shaped by nature itself rather than imposed upon it. Rolling fairways, firm turf, and ever-present coastal winds dictated every shot. Even the simplest approach required careful thought, as the wind could alter direction and distance unpredictably. The course rewarded creativity, encouraging me to embrace the traditional links style—low shots, strategic placement, and patience.

The experience continued at Winterfield Golf Club, a breathtaking coastal course overlooking the vast North Sea. The scenery was both calming and intimidating. The sound of waves crashing against the shoreline accompanied every swing, creating a powerful connection between nature and the game. Tight lies and fast greens demanded precision, while the unpredictable wind added another layer of complexity. Playing here was not just about technique—it was about adapting to nature and respecting its influence.

The final leg of my journey took me to Craigielaw Golf Club, a course that beautifully blends modern design with classic links traditions. Its wide fairways initially appeared forgiving, but this impression quickly faded. Strategically placed bunkers, subtle undulations, and constantly shifting wind conditions made every hole a thoughtful challenge. It tested not only physical ability but also mental discipline and course management, reminding me that golf is as much a game of the mind as it is of skill.

Beyond the fairways, what made this journey truly unforgettable was the deeper connection I felt to the heritage of golf. Walking on Scottish soil—where the game was born centuries ago—brought a profound sense of humility and inspiration. It reminded me that golf is more than competition; it is a tradition, a culture, and a lifelong pursuit of excellence.

This remarkable journey would not have been possible without the generous support of Monir Bhai, Rom Bhai, and Nurul Haq Bhai of the UK–Bangladesh Golf Society. Their careful planning, guidance, and warm hospitality ensured that every moment of the trip was smooth and memorable.

Their passion for golf and their spirit of camaraderie made the experience even more meaningful. I remain deeply grateful for their contribution in turning this dream into reality.

Reflecting on this journey, I realize it was not just about playing three courses—it was about growth, learning, and rediscovering the essence of the game. Scotland has left a lasting imprint on both my game and my perspective. The memories, lessons, and emotions from this experience will continue to inspire me for years to come.
