The Tiger Golf Club (TGC) hosted an enchanting evening of music, culture, and celebration on 27 April, 2025, welcoming renowned Dutch violinist and world-renowned golf instructor Edmond Fokker, who is ranked among the Top 50 by the World Golf Teachers Federation (WGTF).
Fokker, a classically trained musician known for his genre-crossing style, mesmerized the audience with a captivating performance at the elegant Crystal Ballroom of the Intercontinental Dhaka.
A close friend of the Alternate President of TGC and Dutch Ambassador H.E. Andre Carstens, Edmond impressed guests not only with his music but also with his remarkable journey in both the arts and public service.
He studied at Leiden University and Harvard Business School. An autodidact who had only a few masterclasses with great violinists, Edmond has performed worldwide as a soloist—at royal courts, Carnegie Hall, and even in war zones.
Alongside his musical accomplishments, he has earned recognition in the golf world for his distinctive teaching method, which integrates musical rhythm with swing mechanics. As a true cultural ambassador, Edmond regularly conducts golf recalibration sessions and musical performances around the world, promoting excellence, discipline, and cross-cultural understanding through both art and sport.
The evening also featured the ceremonial cake-cutting of Golf & Beyond, TGC’s quarterly magazine, and included live performances by local talents Major (Retd) Ali and Ms. Sajda.
A fun-filled golf putting competition, organized by TGC Director SM Rahman, concluded with a prize distribution ceremony.
TGC extended heartfelt appreciation to its valued sponsors: Hafizur Rahman Khan (Chairman, Runner Group), Mohiuddin Monem (Deputy Managing Director, Abdul Monem Group), Mahbubur Rahman (Additional Managing Director and CFO, City Bank), and Zahirul Islam (Managing Director, Shell Corporation), whose generous support made the event possible.
Gratitude was also conveyed to the many ambassadors, diplomats, and distinguished guests in attendance, as well as to TGC Vice President Brig Gen (Retd) Manzur Qader for orchestrating yet another successful event.
Thanks were also extended to Directors SM Rahman, QM Zahid, other board members, and Zahirul Islam, Editor of Golf & Beyond.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Nasim Majumder, Associate Editor of Golf & Beyond.
The evening was made even more special by the gracious presence of TGC members’ spouses and children. Special thanks went to Mr. Olivier and his team at the Intercontinental Dhaka for their warm cooperation and for sponsoring gift vouchers for the putting competition winners.
Although a few cherished golfers were missed, the TGC community now eagerly looks forward to upcoming programs to be announced soon.
